Holographic Compressor Keycard

For an industrial conference in 2015, we partnered with a hotel to have custom room keycards printed for conference guests. The keycard print had a link to launch an AR experience on one side, and the other side worked as the AR trigger. We worked with an engineering team to convert their equipment into a 3D model with accurately-functioning animations of the machine's internal parts. The next step was to create a holographic shader of the model's shell. Then we mapped the model's scale, rotation, and movement to the AR trigger on a frame-by-frame basis. The biggest challenge was to get this all optimized and running smoothly on the mobile devices of 2015 (the iPhone 6 was the newest model at the time).
